There's a new workplace term going around called "task masking," which is where employees spend a lot of time and effort trying to look like they're working hard, when, in reality, they're hardly doing anything.
So, what are they doing if they're "task masking"?
Some examples include:
1. Type furiously and loudly.
2. Walk fast with your their laptop to wherever they're going
3. Make frustrated noises to give the illusion they're frustrated with work.
4. Call friends, but use business hand gestures to make it look like you’re talking business.
5. Walk through the office quickly with their cell phone to their ear as if you’re talking business.
If you know someone who is always super busy in your office, they may be "task masking"!
