According to a study done by scientists at Western Oregon University who have asked over 500 people to find out if looks played a big part in the expectations of engagement rings, they found that it does.
Participants in the study were shown a photo of someone of the opposite sex who had been rated as attractive, or"unattractive", and they were also asked to imagine that person as their significant other.
Women expected more expensive rings from their fake partner, and men were willing to buy larger rings for their attractive female companion.
This is just a simple, small study, but ... do you agree? Does looks play a big part in expectations of an engagement ring? Let us know your thoughts on our Facebook question!
