Kelly Clarkson cancelled her first Las Vegas residency show at the Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace on Independence Day, just 90 minutes before showtime.
The "Since U Been Gone" songstress told fans that she had no choice but to postpone opening weekend (on July 4 and 5) because she lost her voice during rehearsals and wanted the performance to be perfect.
"We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrowâs opening at Caesars. The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for yâall and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve."
Speaking of the show, Clarkson believes it's "truly incredible" and got fans excited for what's to come next week.
"The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I canât wait to be back next weekend and show yâall what weâve been working on" she explained to Instagram followers.
Earlier this year, Clarkson was absent from her eponymous talk show for over a month but returned for the 1000th episode in March, revealing she had "lost a lot" along the way.
"Iâve lost, alone, a lot, And along the way, we found comfort in one another. And looking back, we are all incredibly proud of what weâve built and the community weâve created...I am grateful to everyone who has been a part of this journey."
