Daniel Printz was initially arrested last fall on weapons on theft charges, but has not been charged with murder. A search warrant unsealed this week reveals Printz is allegedly connected to missing women from Charlotte and Greenville.

Suspect Charged For Waynesville Catalytic Converter Thefts
(Haywood County, NC) -- A suspect is being tied for a string of catalytic converter thefts in Haywood County. The 35-year-old man was already in jail for other charges when investigators tied him to 20 cases in Waynesville over the last 15-months. He's now been charged with 40 additional felony counts.
Asheville Residents Petitioning Against Merrimon Avenue Changes
(Asheville, NC) -- Hundreds of Asheville residents are looking for more information about a major road project. The North Carolina Department of Transportation is planning to reduce a portion of Merrimon Avenue down to two travel lanes. A center turn lane and bicycle lanes will also be added to the roadway. WLOS-TV reports there are now several petitions from different groups either opposed to the project or looking for more information.
Search Underway For Teen's Shooting Death
(Charlotte, NC) -- The search is continuing for suspects in the shooting of two CMS students. Investigators say a 14-year-old was killed and a 13-year-old was injured at the Southside Homes apartment complex early Tuesday night. The teen who died reportedly attended Randolph Road Middle School. One CMPD officer told WBTV that they're not receiving much cooperation from neighbors in the area.

Triple-A reports that's a normal thing and justified for gas stations, which don't want to drop prices too soon or else face an operating loss. The cost around metro Charlotte has dropped three-cents since reaching an all-time high of four-19 last Friday. Oil fell to 96-dollars-a-barrel yesterday.
Union County Inmate Accused Of Murder In Overdose Death
(Union County, NC) -- A Union County inmate is charged in the overdose death of a woman. The sheriff's office is accusing the suspected drug trafficker of giving the victim fentanyl-laced pills in December. He remains behind bars on an additional charge of second-degree murder.

Authorities Looking For Suspects Who Fired Into Goldsboro Mobile Home, Killing A 14-Year Old Boy
(Goldsboro, NC) -- Authorities in Goldsboro are investigating an apparent drive-by shooting that killed a 14-year old boy inside a mobile home. It happened around 4:o'clock Wednesday morning at the Tanglewood Mobile Home Park off Central Heights Road. Investigators say as many as seven shots were fired into the trailer. The victim, identified as Tavorje' Taylor, was one of five siblings and was also a student at Eastern Wayne Middle School. Police have not determined if the child was targeted, or if it was a random attack. No suspects have been arrested.

H5N1 Avian Flu Spreading Among Wild Birds In North Carolina
(Raleigh, NC) -- State wildlife officials have confirmed cases of bird flu in four North Carolina counties. According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, the deadly strain of H5N1 Avian Influenza likely came from Europe by migrating waterfowl. The agency reported Wednesday that at least four wild birds have died from the virus in Hyde, Carteret, Wake and Dare counties. The numbers include one bald eagle in Dare County. The disease kills about 75-percent of the birds exposed to it.

(Raleigh, NC) -- Governor Roy Cooper has signed an Executive Order formally establishing a Joint Cybersecurity Task Force. Cooper said the move comes in the wake of increased cybersecurity incidents against American information technology networks and critical infrastructure. VP Harris Announces Grant For HBCU's Who've Received Bomb Threats
(Washington, DC) -- Vice President Kamala Harris has announced a new grant program for the more than 50-Historically Black Colleges and Universities that received bomb threats earlier this year. Several of those schools were in North Carolina. Funds from the Project School Emergency Response to Violence Program, would enhance campus security and provide mental health resources for institutions that have experienced a violent or traumatic incident. The amount of funding will range from 50-to-100 thousand dollars for affected HBCU's.
UNC Takes On Marquette In First Round Of NCAA Tournament Today
(Ft. Worth, TX) -- First round action of the men's NCAA Tournament gets underway this afternoon in Ft. Worth, when North Carolina takes on Marquette in the East Region. The eighth seeded Tar Heels will bring an overall 24-9 record into the contest against the Golden Eagles, who were 19-12 during the regular season. UNC lost to Wisconsin in the first round of the Tournament last year. Coach Hubert Davis is hoping for a whole new post season experience this year. Tip off is set for around 4:30 pm.
