Watch Meghan Markle Comfort Prince Harry During Final Royal Engagement

The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Attend Mountbatten Music Festival

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially stepped down from their positions within the Royal Family. While they're excited about their new life with Archie in Canada, the Duke of Sussex has been open about how bittersweet the whole experience has been for him.

One particular engagement was particularly difficult for Harry during his goodbye tour. Meghan and Harry attended a tribute to British Armed Forces on March 7 andwhile they looked amazing in matching red outfits Harry was reportedly quite emotional about putting on his military uniform for the last time.

"That was very emotional for him,” a source told People, because Harry served in the British Army for 10 years and rose to the rank of Captain General of the Royal Marines. “That’s 10 years of his life that he gave to serve his country, and he basically has to give it away now because he’s choosing to protect his family."

When Harry and Meghan arrived at their seats, they were greeted with a gracious standing ovation from the crowd. In a video shared on Instagram, Harry can be seen getting emotional. Meghan grabbed hold of his hand and held on tight until the clapping came to an end.

“Deep down they are truly in love with each other, and what you see is truly who they are,” the source explained. Even though some aspects of this transition have been difficult for Harry, he knows he needs to “put his wife and son first," another source added. "He is obviously very devoted to her.”
