Taylor Swift received her first nomination at the CMA Awards in years.

Swift, 36, is nominated in the Single of the Year category for “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the song she released in June that was featured on the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. Swift returned to her country roots when she released the single, which she wrote and produced with Jack Antonoff. Laura Sisk served as mix engineer. Swift said when she released it earlier this year, “writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a [Toy Story] kid from the age of 5 til now... is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”

“I Knew It, I Knew You” is Swift’s first CMA nomination in four years. Previously, she was nominated in the Music Video of the Year category in 2022 for “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” featuring Chris Stapleton. Before that, she earned Song of the Year in 2017 as the songwriter of Little Big Town’s “Better Man.” In 2013, she received the prestigious Pinnacle Award in recognition of her international success, and she won the coveted Entertainer of the Year honor in 2009 and 2011. Swift is among only eight female artists to achieve that honor, along with Loretta Lynn (1972), Dolly Parton (1978), Barbara Mandrell (1980 and 1981), Reba McEntire (1986), Shania Twain (1999), The Chicks (2000), and Lainey Wilson (2023 and 2025). Swift has won a dozen CMA awards throughout her career. She’s been nominated 28 times.

Swift is up for Single of the Year along with Ella Langley (“Be Her” and “Choosin’ Texas”), Wilson (“Somewhere Over Laredo”) and Cody Johnson (“The Fall”). Her nomination at the CMAs arrives shortly after the 20th anniversary of her Grand Ole Opry debut, and before the 20th anniversary of her iconic debut studio album. Wilson, the reigning Entertainer of the Year, is returning to host the show for her third consecutive year. The 60th CMA Awards will air on Wednesday, November 18 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC and Disney+, and the following day on Hulu.
