A Coast Guard member had to fire shots NEAR a shark that was heading right to about 30 to 40 shipmates swimming in the South Pacific while they were doing a swim call. It took several rounds of fire to convince the shark to leave. Everyone was safe, including the shark, who was seen later "swimming with buddies."
