There are some women who just seem to be super-moms, and Michelle Obama is definitely one of them.
Michelle has her own experience raising children - Malia is 20 years old and Sasha is 17 years old. Plus, Michelle has been heavily in the public eye for the last 10 years, since her husband Barak Obama ran for President of the United States (and became the President in 2009).
Soooo Michelle having advice for new Duchess Meghan Markle is pretty fitting. And the advice is spot on.
Michelle shared the advice she would give Meghan in an interview for Good Housekeeping UK.
âMy biggest piece of advice would be to take some time and donât be in a hurry to do anything. I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school and making new friends before I launched into any more ambitious work. I think itâs OK â itâs good, even â to do that."
She explained that she and Meghan are alike because of the way their lives have been shaped by who they love:
âLike me, Meghan probably never dreamt that sheâd have a life like this, and the pressure you feel â from yourself and from others â can sometimes feel like a lot."
As for what advice Michelle has for being in the spotlight in general?
âWhat Iâd say is that thereâs so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that â and I think Meghan can maximize her impact for others, as well her own happiness, if sheâs doing something that resonates with her personally."
Ugh, Michelle, you're so wise.
I think us regular moms can take from her parenting advice, too. Take time to focus on your children when you feel they need a little extra love, and the rest will follow. But also, make sure you're doing something fulfilling for yourself.
Genius.
