I'm not a "Home Alone" fan, and never have been. Something about Macaulay Culkin really bothers me for some reason. When I read that it could have been a RIPOFF, well... I felt a slight bit of vindication. I do feel bad that dog dies at the beginning of this trailer... WARNING YOU NOW!
There's this movie that came out about 30 years ago, about a kid who has to protect his house from a home invasion at Christmastime. Think you've heard of it? Well you HAVEN'T.
Because this isn't "Home Alone" I'm talking about. It's "Dial Code Santa Claus", a French movie from 1989 . . . a year BEFORE "Home Alone" came out. RIPOFF!!!
It's about a 10-year-old kid named Thomas who's home alone with his grandfather on Christmas Eve, because his mom is stuck at the office. When a psycho dressed as Santa comes down the chimney, Thomas has to go all RAMBO to take him out. It definitely looks more hardcore and less kid-friendly than that gross "Home Alone."
"Dial Code Santa Claus" had never been released in the U.S. before, but it's doing a little tour of the States right now through January.
