'Glee' Cast Launches Fundraiser In Naya Rivera's Memory

Naya Rivera’s Glee costars are honoring her memory in the most meaningful way.

On Friday (December 4), Rivera’s former castmates started a GoFundMe page to support Alexandria House in Los Angeles, a nonprofit charity the actress had supported before she tragically passed away in July at the age of 33. After going missing for several days while boating on Lake Piru, Rivera's body turned up in the waters. Her cause of death was accidental drowning.

Named after Rivera’s annual Christmas gathering, the “SNIXXMAS Charity Drive in Memory of Naya Rivera” GoFundMe page reads:

“If you were lucky enough to know Naya, you know she threw some epic parties. The best of them all was her annual Christmas party, which she dubbed Snixxmas. Snixxmas was like Naya herself… sparkling, fabulous and one hell of a good time! But it wasn’t only glitz, glamour and gay apparel. Every holiday season, Naya found ways to give back. Recently, Naya began working with a local non-profit in Los Angeles called Alexandria House. She not only raised and contributed funds for them, but also volunteered her time and effort to the organization. … Let’s make charity a cornerstone of the Snixxmas Legacy.”

According to their website, Alexandria House provides both “transitional housing for women and women with children” as well as “resources for the community and past resident services.”

Before her untimely death, Rivera expressed how deeply she connected with the charity. “The connection I feel with [Alexandria House] and the people who reside and work there has been the biggest blessing and made such a huge positive impact on myself and my son [Josey, 4],” Rivera said. “We truly have found a home away from home through the time we spend volunteering there.”

As yet, over 2,600 donors have contributed to the fund, which has already raised $62,300 of its $100,000 goal.
