Police Seek Woman Who Set Fire Inside Hospital

(Asheville, NC) -- Asheville police are looking for a woman who allegedly started a fire inside Mission Hospital. Robin Burleson is accused of setting a trash can on fire Sunday morning before fleeing the scene. The blaze caused no major damaged, but the fire alarm did activate inside the hospital. Burleson is wanted for arson and burning personal property.

Labor Rate Steady Over Year

The Department of Labor says the unemployment rate stood at three-point-seven-percent at the end of the year, which mirrored the beginning of 2019. The rate also dropped slightly from November. Suspect Accused of Assaulting Referee

(Mitchell County, NC) -- An Avery County man is accused of assaulting a basketball referee last week. Investigators say 47-year-old Jerry Jones struck the man after a game at Mitchell High School in Mitchell County, while also allegedly refusing to listen to a deputy at the scene. A region supervisor of sports officials told WLOS-TV that there is a shortage of referees in western North Carolina due to situations like this. The suspect is no longer allowed on the school's property.

Man Shot To Death In SW Charlotte

(Charlotte, NC) -- One man is dead in a southwest Charlotte homicide. Officers initially found a man injured on Edgegreen Drive on Friday night. They were then quickly called to Stone Post Road, where a 20-year-old man was found shot to death. The CMPD is still trying to figure out what led to the shooting and have yet to file any charges. Stone Post Road is believed to be the scene of the crime.

Fire Burns In Mooresville Storage Facility

(Mooresville, NC) -- Mooresville investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that tore through a storage facility Sunday morning. Flames erupted inside a large building on Timber Road around 4 a.m. Firefighters say the building contained hay and straw. They allowed the fire to remain burning in a controlled manner due to the large amount of straw and water runoff. No injuries were reported.

(Charlotte, NC) -- Women are continuing a fight for equal rights in the Queen City. A crowd of thousands joined in the fourth annual Women United March in uptown on Saturday morning. The disease that's spreading across China has been confirmed in five U.S. cities. The LightUp festival was scheduled for next Sunday, February 2nd, on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. Organizers are postponing the festival of live performance and lanterns because it's a large public gathering that includes people who have traveled to and from China.

Flags Ordered At Half-Staff In Honor Of Soldier

(Raleigh, NC) -- Governor Roy Cooper is ordering all U.S. and state flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of a North Carolina soldier who died overseas. Twenty-two-year-old Army Specialist Antonio Moore of Wilmington died Friday in Syria. The Pentagon says Moore was conducting route-clearing operations when he was killed. He was assigned to the 363rd Engineer Battalion, based in Knightdale.

Durham Elementary School Closed Today

(Durham, NC) -- A Durham elementary school is closed today. Durham Public Schools officials announced Sunday night that Morehead Montessori Elementary School will be closed while crews repair a heating system that malfunctioned. There are no school or extracurricular activities for Morehead students today. On Tuesday, Morehead Montessori fourth and fifth-grade classes will meet at the DPS Staff Development Center on Hillandale Road and all other classes will be at Eno Valley Elementary School on Milton Road.

Alamance Co. Man Accused Of Soliciting Minor

(Alamance Co., NC) -- An Alamance County man is accused of soliciting sex from a minor. Deputies say 32-year-old Isaiah Musto solicited the minor online. He was arrested in Mooresville with the help of Mooresville police and Homeland Security. Musto is being held a five-thousand-dollars bail.

Winston-Salem PD Investigate CVS Armed Robbery

(Winston-Salem, NC) -- Winston-Salem police are looking for a man who robbed a CVS Pharmacy. It happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday at the drug store on Peters Creek Parkway. Police say the suspect was armed when he demanded money from the clerk. He took off in a dark-colored Chevy Impala. The suspect is described as African-American, about five-foot-six and 215 pounds. He was reportedly wearing Air Jordans and a ski mask at the time.
